Okay, what's with the new J.C. Penny commercial now and the little girl stepping on the birthday cake?.....

Is that a new "thing" somewhere now? Another new stupid whacked out tradition I don't even want to get?

Okay, what's with the new J.C. Penny commercial now and the little girl stepping on the birthday cake?.....
Since when do you expect advertising to make sense? It's the 'Jackass' generation and someone thought this up to appeal to them. Most children I encounter don't have any manners at all and neither do their parents. This particular stunt is right down there with Newlyweds smearing wedding cake into each other's faces. Disgusting.
Reply:It is one of the dumber commercials I have seen. I guess they are advertising to people so rich, they can afford to trash a birthday cake. Seriously lame!
Reply:I have absolutely no idea. I watched it, then my roommates caught it later... I don't see the point at all. Nobody I know does. This little kid is acting like an uncontrollable overindulged brat and... that's funny?

All I know is that I hate it.
Reply:Yeah I Saw that too, it is weird, especially because the commercial doesn't FOCUS on it and it is just a clip mixed in with a bunch of other cilps (if I remember correctly)

Maybe it is some weird artistic thing, or maybe when they were doing the photo shoot with those characters, someone got a little funny and the girl somehow started walking on the cake.. or maybe she accidentally stepped on it and they were filming so they just let her walk on it since it was ruined, and then it turned out good enough for their commercial
Reply:Most of my tv viewing is done by recording/taping and zapping the commercials. Even so, one slips through now and then and catches my eye. But this one I have not seen... yet.

Someone mentioned about one commercial where the mother prepares the "product," sets it on the counter, and the son's FIST comes FLYING through the kitchen wall and grabs the "product," saying, "THANKS Mom!"... and then she SMILES about it. Frankly, I would have been over there crowning my son on the head for putting his fist through the wall... then taking him to the hardware store to purchase supplies for him to repair it with.

Now, I'm not sure if I really want to see this new JC Penny commercial from your description of it. It just seems these days that "Madison Avenue" is populated by "Gen-X'ers" who THINK what they are dreaming up is REALLY FUNNY when it's NOT. That's the only thing I can imagine which explains the spate of bewilderingly STUPID commercial parading themselves as advertising which is going to be effective!!!

Have a polite day.
