Does anyone know the easiest, non expensive way to get from new york city to washington D.C. daily?

It does not have to be in D.C. proper, any place near DC like Tenley Circle or Bethesda would be good for me too.

The cheapest way is one of the Chinatown buses (I've used todaysbus.com). But it can be an awful ride, and for some reason, both in DC and in NYC they seem to yell at you at lot as they're getting everyone boarded.

I think it's worth it to spend an extra $10-15 and take Greyhound/Peter Pan. You can usually get a special price if you book online in advance. And they show a movie usually.

The most pleasant way is via Amtrak - a three hour trip (as opposed to 5 on the bus), and you arrive in Manhattan, which makes it preferable to flying - you'll save money on cab fare into the city. But it's not cheap - $160 round trip, usually.

Reply:You can usually get a flight for around $100 roundtrip which will take you into either dulles or Regan airport

You can also take Amtrack from penn to central for about the same amount of money.....

And driving, you're looking at about $20 each way and a minimum of 5 hours

good luck!

Reply:well if your not going for comfort you can check out the china town buses running from dc's china town to nyc. ive ridden them and there pretty bad, or you can try amtrak
Reply:The Car is the best way...put you would still need to pay for gas and if you take a bus you have to pay to get to D.C and back to NY everyday which is probally alot more then you would pay for gas....i wouldnt know but thats my best answer
