If 75g of water at 30.0 C absorbs 900 calories, what is the new temp?

I am having a hard time working this problem, I am new to Chemistry.

If 75g of water at 30.0 C absorbs 900 calories, what is the new temp?
it takes 1 calorie to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree...

so 900 calories would raise 75 grams of water (900/75) = 12 degrees.

30 + 12 ==%26gt; 42 degrees would be the new temperature

(strictly speaking the 1 cal/gram to raise water temperture only occurs from 14.5 to 15.5 degrees C. However for our purposes the exact same amount of energy is approximately true from 30 to 42 degrees)
