Why are New Balance so big in D.C.?

I know they're great shoes, but why are they so big in D.C.? I've heard repeatedly that in Washington D.C. that this brand of sneaker is really popular. Who wears it down there, and why? If you have any info on this, lay it down.

Many marathon and long distance runners, military personnel and fitness enthusiasts live in DC and swear by New Balance as being the most superior running shoe. New Balance comes in widths up to EEEEEE for those with strange feet or flat feet.





I had 3 pairs of New Balance at one time but I'm down to one pair which I've had for 3 years. They are comfortable shoes, especially with my orthotics, which I no longer have due to throwing them away by accident.

Reply:The Bush family and the Cheney family own the New Balance company. If you take a look at Condaleeza Rice, she is usually sporting a new pair. George W. Bush often wears them to press conferences in the Rose Garden - even when he is wearing a suit.
