Aprox. price for new a/c and heater for a 3000' house?

The house has two stories plus a finished basement (not included in the square footage. With basement, sq. footage is about 4400').

I want the most energy efficient unit--2 stroke? And a good brand like Lenox, Trane or Rheem I think.

If I got two a/c units, one for each for the first and second levels, would I need to have the duct work redone to put each on its own zone?

i would recommend 2 systems for a house that size. you would need separate supply and return duct work for each system .this might cost more but i feel would save in the long run.this way you don't have to cool or heat one floor when nobody there .as for the brand trane you pay more for the name ,lenox, york, just as good
Reply:You may want to think about zone system. As for the price, first you need to find the proper size. That requires a load calculation.
Reply:the true cost will be more global warming so you will need a biggerair con unit so the circle will get bigger , and bigger
