As an airline pilot, what is more difficult; Going from a "new A/C" to an older type, or the reverse?

I wonder, is it easier to go from a basic analog cockpit to a glass format, or is the reverse harder? With new tech. daily improving cockpits, how do pilots react? Also, what is the downside to the "modern cockpit" that most of us (i.e. passengers) never know or realize?

For new pilots who have trained in mostly glass cockpits (glass means computer screens instead of individual gauges) going back to the old "steam gauge" airplanes tends to be difficult. The main complaint I hear from most pilots going from old tech to new tech is how automated everything is and a general distrust of the computers involved. Generally, the transition from old to new is easier.

As a pilot and flight instructor, I find the new glass cockpit much easier (and safer) to fly and I learned on traditional gauges.
Reply:Going from a "new A/C" to an older type is difficult 'coz now a days most modern a/c have a mission computer which keeps track of all the operating parameters and flight conditions and helps to maintain a/c stability without pilot control.

So ,probably the 21st century a/c cockpit would contain a pilot %26amp; a dog. The pilot is there to feed the dog %26amp; the dog is there to bite the pilot in case he touches anything. This is the downside to the "modern cockpit" .
Reply:its not diffacult at all its just the toys on board that need training
